The Strategy + Operations Sprint is our most popular Sprint and the optimal place to start if you’re looking to gain critical skills needed for Strategy & Operations roles in tech.
You’ll work with a team & industry mentor to simulate a project you’d get in a BizOps role at a high-growth tech company.
You’re part of the BizOps team at Juniper, a quick-commerce food delivery marketplace. It’s been almost two months since Juniper launched in a new market: New York. With 6+ workshops, weekly team working sessions & office hours, and with guidance from your mentor, you will use SQL to analyze the launch’s performance and build an experiment to improve on Juniper’s operations. You’ll pitch your recommendations at the end of the 6 weeks and get direct, actionable feedback from mentors who live & breathe this daily!
Mya joined The Commons after receiving fourteen nominations for our International Women’s Day scholarship, described by friends and colleagues as kind, smart, bold and innovative - an excellent reflection of The Commons community. She was looking to explore new opportunities and explore making a pivot from healthcare consulting. Through The Commons, she honed her technical skills like SQL and analysis, and under the coaching of her mentor Ananya, built confidence to apply for roles in tech. She was keen to find an opportunity at a company that was making a positive impact, and connected with Brody - another mentor at The Commons - who happens to be the VP of Operations at Flashfood. A few short weeks later, she was setting into her role on his team as an Optimization Lead.
Raza joined The Commons after spending over 3 years honing his strategy and operations skills in telecom. He wanted to pivot into tech, and knew he needed to build his skills and network to propel him there. In his LinkedIn post, he shared how The Commons (fka Skillful) helped him understand BizOps roles in tech, hone his technical skills, develop core competencies and best practices, engage with the “most helpful community” and build relationships with individuals across diverse industries. Through the community, he met Jordy, Director of BizOps at ResQ and went on to land a role on her team. He’s now onto his second role that he’s landed through The Commons - this time, BizOps at Webflow.

Jenina had been working in tech for a number of years before joining The Commons. She spent time as a Business Project Intern at Google and a Business Manager at GrabPay, a superapp serving Southeast Asia, where she focused on payments. Her reason for joining The Commons? While she was a spreadsheet wizard - having built that muscle throughout her time in banking, telecom and tech - she said “SQL evades me. I have tried learning it online 3X but failed miserably. Hopefully I’ll finally pick it up here.” And, she did just that by way of The Commons’ secret sauce: learning in live workshops (where you can actually ask questions), applying what she learned to a project (so she could retain it!), and being coached by a mentor who lives and breathes SQL in their role in tech.
While working in operations at a Series A startup, Charliepat joined The Commons to level up his generalist skill set. Through the Strategy & Operations Sprint, he honed SQL skills which enabled him to dig deeper into his company’s data. In turn, this enabled him to bridge the gap between product performance and business decisions at his organization, and unlocked higher impact projects for him to contribute towards. Charliepat’s mentor, Ujwal (BizOps at LinkedIn), coached him through how to break down ambiguous problems and identify gaps in operations. By applying his enhanced data expertise and implementing a structured approach to problem solving, Charliepat was recognized for the value he was bringing to the business with a promotion to BizOps team within a month of completing the Sprint.
